Why do people follow brands?

Firstly, there has to be a realization that the main reason why people follow brands is that they are consumers. And as consumers, they become customers of a particular brand because of societal factors such as word of mouth, attractive packaging, price points, positive experience, etc. So with that being said what follows are some of the ‘other’ reasons why brands attain and maintain a certain connection.

1. To learn about the brand

There are many people who receive most of their daily intake of news from social media. So whenever brands have a new product/service to launch, they have to make sure the info is shared on their social pages and, maybe even, provide a teaser of what their followers can expect. For example, a short video or images.

2. To be entertained

People use entertainment to escape the repetition of daily life. If a brand can find a way to become that space, then they would have won customers for life.

3. For the promotions/discounts

Followers are often Impressed by brands sharing special offers and promos on their social pages from time to time. Brands should offer the promotions only to their social fans. So that it will make them feel exclusive!

4. Connect with similar people

There is nothing like word of mouth for a brand. First hand endorsements and experiences could make, or break, any company. So it is no surprise that people are more likely to follow brands who are linked with an audience they feel have similar mindsets, value systems or interests.

5. Stay up to date with company news

If people are loyal towards your brand, there is a high chance that they wish to remain updated with the things that are going on in your world especially things such as events, launches, milestones etc. Remember to mix in brand news with your shared content so that your followers can remain updated.

Is your brand connecting with people the way it should?
